Materialise Joins a New Cooperation Agreement with Sigma Labs, Inc.

Materialise is proud to announce a new partnership with Sigma Labs, Inc. to integrate Streamics with Sigma Labs PrintRite3D® products to improve services for metal-based Additive Manufacturing. Sigma Labs is a developer of advanced, real-time quality inspection systems for metal-based 3D Printing, working primarily with the North American aerospace industry. Growth in the area of high-performance, metal-based parts is currently limited by quality, geometry and productivity. This new agreement aims to improve these areas by capitalizing upon Streamics’ ability to optimize manufacturing efficiency and integrate costly post-production quality inspection stages into the initial manufacture.

Kipling Gives Away Materialise’s 3D Printed Bags

Belgian bags and accessories brand Kipling has partnered with Materialise to co-create the “City Jungle Shopper” and will be giving away these 3D printed bags in a contest running from today until April 2nd, 2014. Based on the Monkey Madness collection, this bag showcases its monkey mascot role in the world’s first fully-flexible 3D Printing material TPU 92A-1.

3D Printed Heart Model Helps Surgeons Save Baby’s Life

Materialise, a world leader in software for segmenting medical image data and 3D Printing, play ed a pivotal role in helping surgeons save a baby boy’s life through the use of a 3D printed heart model. Kosair Children’s Hospital was presented with a case of a 14 month old with four congenital heart defects. The complexity of the defects made planning the surgery difficult without 3D visualization and a physical model.

Consortium Secures 1M€ in Funding for Lung Transplant Research

The Flemish agency for Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT) has announced that a consortium, which counts Materialise among its members, has been awarded a research grant of 1M€ to conduct research to increase survival rates after lung transplantation through Functional Respiratory Imaging (FRI).
